Lingual Muse Privacy Policy

Thank you for being a valued member of the LingualMuse community! LingualMuse (“we”, “us” or “our”) respects your right to privacy, and the following outlines the information we collect and how we use it to best serve you. By using our website or app, you are consenting to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
Information collected: We collect the information in your student profile, such as first and last name, email address, birth date, and stated locale, and the information you use to set up payment, such as your billing address. Your Language Coach may receive the information in your student profile but will not for any reason receive billing information.
LingualMuse website and Student Companion App: When you use our app or visit our website, we may also request to collect geolocation information, mobile device access, and mobile device data; you may change our access or permissions in your device’s settings. We may request to send you push notifications, which you may turn off in your device’s settings.
Use of information: In order to communicate most effectively, we may use your data internally. We may use your personal information to: provide you with and personalize our products and services; manage your student account and create resource documents; process your orders and provide customer service; maintain our internal records and otherwise manage our business; perform internal analytics of student data for future marketing; send you newsletters other correspondence; ask for testimonials and send you surveys and questionnaires.
Data distribution: We do not for any reason sell or distribute student data, such as email, phone number, address, or date of birth. We may share personal information when we believe in good faith that an applicable law requires it; at the request of law enforcement, judicial authorities (e.g. upon receipt of a court order or subpoena), or appropriate governmental authorities; to respond to an emergency; or otherwise to protect the rights, property, safety or security of our students, Language Coaches, Management Team, or the public.
Third-party services: Student data may exist in various third-party locations for the purpose of providing LingualMuse services. These include, but are not limited to, Zoom, Google Drive, Google Meet, Acuity Scheduling, Websites360, MindMe, and other third party apps and services. These apps and services each have their own privacy policy and practices. Please refer to the respective third-party privacy policy for detailed information. LingualMuse is not responsible for the privacy practices or security of any third-party apps or services.
Testimonials and shout-outs: By providing us with a testimonial, you consent to its use on our website, social media platforms, and advertising, along with your first name and last initial. If you choose to add a photo of you or your child, you consent to its use in those locations as well, unless you request any to be excluded. If you post a shout-out to us on any social media platform, you allow us to repost it on the platform of origin as well as our other social media accounts.
Lesson recording: A LingualMuse Language Coach will never record a lesson without the express consent of the student(s) involved or their parent or guardian. Should a recording be sent to us by either a student or a Language Coach, we would additionally ask for consent from all parties before using it in any way, other than for internal quality control purposes.
Student document: A student’s learning document will not be shared with anyone outside of the LingualMuse community. Documents for students under the age of 18 may be shared with that student’s parents or guardians as needed for them to facilitate access for the student.
Your access to information: You may review and correct your or your child’s information with us at any time by editing your or your child’s student profile in the LingualMuse Student Companion app or contacting us via email.
Your Right to Deletion: You have the right to request that we delete your or your child’s personal information that we have collected, subject to exceptions provided under privacy laws. Once we receive and confirm your request, then unless an exception applies, we will delete your personal information from our records.
Opt Out: You may opt out of certain communications, such as newsletters, by following the unsubscribe directions in the communication itself or by emailing us.
Transfer to third-parties: LingualMuse may share your information with third-party contractors and service providers, such as billing and credit card processing. These third-party contractors and service providers also have privacy policies and security measures to protect your information. Also, if LingualMuse is acquired by one or more third parties as a result of an acquisition, merger, sale, reorganization, consolidation, or liquidation, then your personal information may be included in the transferred assets.
Changes: We reserve the right to revise this Privacy Policy at any time, and changes will be effective upon being posted unless we advise otherwise. If we make any material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you prior to the change becoming effective. By continuing to use our services after changes are made to this Privacy Policy, you agree to such changes, where and as permitted by applicable law.
Security: We take customary and reasonable precautions within current industry practices to protect your information. Despite the best of security practices, however, any system may be subject to malicious acts of third parties, such as thieves, hackers, viruses and malware. Although we employ security measures to protect against such attacks, by using the website or app, you agree to assume the risk of loss due to such an attack. You also accept the responsibility to protect your login information and password from unauthorized use.
Cookies and Automatic Data Collection: As you use our website, we may employ cookies and other automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions and patterns. A cookie is a small file placed on the hard drive of your computer which collects data such as details of your visits to our website, including traffic data, location data, and other communication data, the resources that you access and use on the website, and information about your computer and internet connection, including your IP address, operating system and browser type. We may use the collected data to estimate our user audience size and usage patterns, store information about your preferences, allowing us to customize our website according to your individual interests, speed up your searches, recognize you when you return to our website, and for other uses to improve our business operations and your experience with the website. You may refuse to accept browser cookies by changing the appropriate setting on your browser, but doing so may disable certain portions of the website.
