Georgia Kakargia
Greek and English
My name is Georgia Kakargia, I am a Greek Language Instructor and I live in Greece.
I got my Bachelor in Linguistics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and recently earned my Master in Literature and Linguistics. Specifically, my thesis concerns the teaching of Greek as a heritage language, a research I conducted during my stay in Los Angeles this year.
Due to my deep interest in bilingualism and of how language is represented in the brain, I am currently completing my second Master's degree in Neuroscience and Neurolinguistics at the Department of Medicine, at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Besides, in order to support deaf and hard of hearing students , I also specialized in Greek Sign Language and got my degree.
During my professional career I have worked in multicultural environments with refugees and immigrants, where I have taught Greek as a foreign language on a voluntary basis in both Greece and Cyprus.
I currently teach online Greek as a second and heritage language both in United States and in Europe and I undertake the preparation for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek.
As a person and as an educator, I am in favour of lifelong learning and I hope to share that knowledge successfully with my students.
I look forward to taking a journey with you to Ancient and Modern Greek culture, history and values through words!
